Meet Our Coordinators

Meet our ELD Coordinators, Mrs.Jovanovska and Mrs. Nichols!

Mrs.Jovanovska is originally from North Macedonia, a country in Southeastern Europe. She holds a masters in Curriculum and Instruction, Linguistically Diverse Education from University of Colorado Denver, and currently is a doctoral student with focus in Educational Equity, Professional Learning, and Technology.

On a daily basis, she effortlessly shifts between languages such as, Macedonian, English, Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian. She also shows a great interest in communicating basic ideas in Italian, Spanish, and German. One of her guiding principles is that showing interest in more than one language and culture is a path to empathy and understanding.

In the United States, Magdalena started teaching since 2010 and this is her fifth year at American Academy. She has a teaching license in English Language Arts along with a CLDE endorsement. She is very excited and honored to be part of the AA family and community. Her role is “to support our emerging bilinguals in gaining proficiency in English in order to communicate effectively, elicit critical thinking, value and celebrate diversity, and graduate with the motivation and ability to pursue higher education and contribute to the global workforce”. 

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family,  her husband, Alen, and two children who also attend AA. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, knitting, opera, museums, theatres, and traveling.

Mrs. Nichols is a Colorado native originally from Highlands Ranch. She went to UNC in Greely, CO where she received her bachelor`s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in ESL (English as a Second Language). She then went on to receive a masters degree in English Language Learning from Western Governors University in 2019.

After college Kelley started her teaching career in Arizona in 2010 and then moved back to CO in 2020 and this is her 4th year at American Academy but 13th in Education. She has a teaching license in Elementary Education along with a CLDE (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education) endorsement. She is very excited for her new role within the AA family and community. Her role is to support emerging bilinguals in gaining proficiency in English in order to help them communicate more effectively, elicit critical thinking, value and celebrate diversity, to give students the motivation and ability to pursue higher education and to contribute to the global workforce.

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, her husband, Brandon, and their two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys RVing, traveling, reading, and hiking.
