American Academy

AAPA Certification Program

Guidelines

2024-25 Academic Year

Overview:

At American Academy, we are dedicated to providing exceptional programming that challenges and inspires students to explore and excel in the performing arts. Our mission is to foster creativity, cultivate talent, and empower students to achieve their highest potential in a supportive and enriching environment.

Students wishing to graduate from American Academy with a certificate in performing arts

will formally enroll in a chosen track starting as early as 5th Grade and follow that track to the completion of certification requirements as outlined in this document.

Enrollment:

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year opens on August 1st for all AA students. To ensure smooth programming, please enroll by September 1st, though enrollment remains open year-round.

Students in grades 5-8 interested in Theatre, Instrumental, Voice, Dance, Technical Theatre, or General Performance must complete the enrollment forms and submit the $50 annual fee through the American Academy School Store. Enrollment is available throughout the year, with courses credited retroactively toward certification if the fee is paid within the current school year or earlier (before 8th-grade graduation).

Benefits of enrollment include:

  • 20% discount on session-specific classes (excludes private lessons and productions)
  • Certification recognition: AAPA pin and certificate upon graduation
  • High school endorsement: Personal introduction and endorsement to high school performing arts staff, potentially waiving some coursework
  • Building Cross-Campus Connections: An excellent chance to connect with peers from all three campuses, create lasting memories, and form friendships that may continue into high school.

Our certified graduates historically excel in high school auditions and productions, often starting strong even as freshmen. More importantly, they gain confidence, poise, and professionalism through the program.

Course registrations occur in 3 sessions: August, December, and Summer. If fewer than ten students enroll in a track or course, it may be canceled, and a refund issued. Otherwise, enrollment and participation fees are non-refundable.

After submitting the enrollment fee, students will receive a personalized program schedule and can book an appointment with a Performing Arts staff member for course completion guidance.

Please read the American Academy Performing Arts Certification Handbook 24-25 for more information.
