Student IT Support

The American Academy IT Department is available to support students with One2One laptops via email. We also offer personal one-on-one support during school hours. If your student is experiencing issues with a One2One laptop, please email the IT Department.
 
The following How To tips answer some common parent questions. Please review these tips before emailing the IT team in case the tips can be helpful!

Save a Student File to Office 365 OneDrive

Students should save all documents to their Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive student folder; they should not save files anywhere on the local hard drive of the laptop (i.e., the C Drive, desktop, documents folder, downloads folder, pictures folder, etc).
 
To save to the OneDrive student folder while working in an application, students should do the following
 
  1. Click FILE > SAVE AS > ONEDRIVE - AMERICAN ACADEMY > BROWSE > DOCUMENTS

  2. Double-click on DOCUMENTS.

  3. If desired, double-click on a subfolder within the student folder in which you wish to save the file.

  4. Type the File Name as directed.

  5. Click SAVE.
 

Setup Student Email on a Mobile Device

Student email accounts can be setup on any mobile device such as a Smart Phone or Tablet.
 
iOS Devices (iPhone, iPad)
  1. Go to the SETTINGS icon.

  2. Click on MAIL.

  3. Click on ACCOUNTS.

  4. Click on ADD ACCOUNT.

  5. Click EXCHANGE.

  6. Enter the student’s American Academy email address (XXX@aak8.org). Enter the student’s password (6 digit student ID).

  7. In the Description field, enter "AA."
 

Access Student Email on a Mobile Device

  1. Click the MAIL icon.

  2. Click the mailbox name in the top left corner to return to the Mailbox list.

  3. Click on "AA" to view the AA mailbox.
If your device is not listed above or you need more detailed procedures, please contact the IT Department .
 


Access Student Documents on a Mobile Device

Since all student email lives on Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive as well as student documents, this is also an alternate way to access and manage student email, instead of using the mobile device mail icon/client.
  1. From the mobile device, open the Internet Browser.

  2. Go to Office 365 OneDrive.

  3. Log in using the student’s email address XX@aak8.org and the student’s password (6-digit district student ID number). NOTE: You can find your younger student's district ID number in Infinite Campus by selecting the student from the top drop-down -- once the student is selected, the number will display on the right. Most older students memorize this number at the beginning of the school year.

  4. To view and manage student email:
    • Select the APP LAUNCHER icon (the waffle icon) located in the top left corner.
    • Click MAIL. The student’s email inbox will appear.

  5. To view and manage student documents:
    • Select the APP LAUNCHER icon (the waffle icon) located in the top left corner.
    • Click ONEDRIVE. The student's files will appear. Files may be opened and edited using either the OneDrive browser version of the Microsoft Office application OR the full local version of the Microsoft Office applications.
