Board Election - Apply by May 1 for One BOD Seat and Two SAC Seats

Greetings from the Board Election Committee (BEC)! Each year the Board of Directors appoints members to the BEC, per the Board of Directors Election Policy, to oversee the upcoming year's election process for both the School Accountability Committee (SAC) and the Board of Directors (BOD).

This spring, the BOD has ONE seat and the SAC has TWO seats up for parent-election. Election day will be held on May 15th. Every American Academy parent has one vote, and we hope you will use yours!

Below is more information about the open seats, the election process for each group, and a link and instructions for applying for candidacy. We hope you will take the time to read and consider these important American Academy volunteer roles.

American Academy School Accountability Committee (about the SAC)

There are two parent member positions open on the SAC starting in September 2024. The SAC seats up for election are currently occupied by Lincoln Meadows parent Beth Hamlin and Lincoln Meadows parent Bryan Armstrong. Thank you both for serving on the SAC and for your continued support of American Academy.

The SAC meets monthly and is made up of parent-elected parent representatives, SAC-appointed parent representatives, a teacher (elected by AA teachers), administrator(s), and a business community representative (click here for the full list). Elected SAC members serve a two-year term.

Any interested candidates must submit their interest via JotForm no later than Wednesday, May 1st. Candidates from all three campuses are eligible and encouraged to run for election. Not sure if you want to run or that you are ready to commit two years? Parents are welcomed and encouraged to join us at any SAC Meeting without being an official member.

American Academy Board of Directors (about the BOD)

There is one seat open on the Board of Directors beginning July 1, 2024, and will be a three-year position. The seat is currently held by 5-year member, Jodi Losinger, who has indicated she will be running again. Thank you, Jodi, for serving on the BOD and for your continued interest.

Qualified BOD candidates from all three campuses are invited to submit their interest via JotForm no later than Wednesday, May 1st. In order to qualify to run for the Board of Directors, a candidate must first serve on the School Accountability Committee for at least one term as set forth in the American Academy Bylaws. Additional specific requirements for candidates are detailed in the Board Election Policy.

If you have any questions about the election process, please feel free to email the BEC. Thank you for participating in these important school elections!
