DCSD recently announced their decision to implement dedicated Professional Learning Communities (PLC) time in their elementary and middle schools beginning next school year. This means, beginning next school year, all DCSD neighborhood schools will have a 45-minute late start every Friday. American Academy families should note that American Academy will not be participating in this schedule change and will continue to operate on its regular school schedule.

As a charter school, American Academy maintains its own academic calendar and daily schedule, which are designed to best support our students and families. After careful consideration, American Academy will continue with its existing start times and instructional structure.

We understand that district-wide announcements can raise questions, and we want to be proactive in sharing clear and accurate information with our families. Our goal is to provide consistency and predictability while maintaining the high academic standards and structured learning environment our community values.
