An American Academy election is coming up as we near the end of the school year. There are three seats on the School Accountability Committee (SAC) and one seat on the Board of Directors (BOD) which are open for election this spring.
Election day is May 22, 2018. Every American Academy parent has one vote, and we hope you will use yours!
Below is more information about the open seats, the election process for each group, and a link and instructions for applying for candidacy. We hope you will take the time to read and consider these important American Academy volunteer roles.

There is one member term of office (Member C, as detailed in the Board of Directors Succession Plan) open to be filled by parent election. This parent-elected member is expected to complete a three-year term of office, beginning no earlier than July 1, 2018. The position is currently occupied by Chrissy DeMier.
As per the Board of Directors Election Policy, the Board Election Committee (BEC) oversees the election process in compliance with the policy. This year’s BEC members are Shaylee Holland (BOD representative), Kay Wan (BOD representative), Laurie Neil (Assistant Executive Director of Schools), Jonathan Fung (SAC representative), Robyn Hunt (staff representative), Kristen Krieger (CP parent representative), Kristen Foery (MB parent representative), and Melissa Jones (LM parent representative). Thanks to everyone who volunteered to serve on this committee!
Parents from all three American Academy campuses are invited to apply for candidacy for the BOD, but must first meet the requirements set forth in the Board of Directors Election Policy and the American Academy Bylaws. Qualified candidates must submit a brief letter of interest, accompanied by an abbreviated resume, to the BEC no later than Thursday, April 18, 2018. If you have any questions about the election process, please feel free to email the BEC.
