Important Information Regarding Emergency (and other) Communication

At American Academy, effective communication with our families is a top priority. Here are the main ways we keep you informed:

1. Emergency Communications
We use text, voice and email (or any combination) through the Finalsite platform for emergencies. All families are automatically included via Infinite Campus, which updates nightly. You may also receive emergency messages from DCSD. Please read more about our Emergency Communications.

2. Teacher Emails
Teachers send classroom updates (homework, reminders, etc.) through Infinite Campus. These emails come from their @dcsdk12.org address. If you don’t get a timely reply, please reach out to their @aak8.org email.

3. Teacher Newsletters
K–5 teachers typically share a weekly or monthly grade-level newsletter. These are posted on your campus website (Grade Level >> right toolbar >> “Newsletters”) and usually begin appearing 1–2 weeks after school starts. You’ll also find direct links in each Friday All School Newsletter.

4. Schoolwide Newsletters
You’ll receive the All School Newsletter every Friday, plus occasional messages from our Executive Director of Schools, CAO, and Board. These also come via Finalsite.

Important: If you opt out of any DCSD communication, you will stop receiving all emails—including emergencies and teacher messages. We do not want you to miss out on any important classroom instruction or direction, so please DO NOT OPT OUT OF ANY DCSD EMAILS/COMMUNICATION.
