Media Consent at American Academy

During the DCSD Express Check-In process each year, parents are asked to provide media consent for their students. At American Academy, we respect your choices. If you would like to say “Yes,” simply leave the opt-out boxes unchecked. The selections you make here guide how we may use your student’s images and information throughout the school year. You can update your choice at any time using this form: Media Consent Change Request.

Why say “Yes”?
We love sharing your students’ accomplishments, smiles, and activities with our community—through newsletters, grade-level web pages, the front page of our website, and our Facebook page. Student names are only published with written parental permission.

DCSD Media Limitations Options

Media Consent Options in DCSD:

  1. Media Coverage – Internal media is OK; no publicly viewable media without consent. Includes yearbook, class/group photos, classroom bulletin boards, and in-school publications.

  2. Media Blackout – No publicly viewable media of any kind, including yearbook. Some in-school postings (posters, bulletin boards, password-protected sites) are allowed.

  3. Instructional Media – Not applicable at American Academy; all classroom media use is secure and controlled.

Exceptions
Media opt-outs do not apply to STEM trips, extracurricular activities, or athletics. Student photos and basic info for these activities may appear in school and outside publications.

Parents Taking Photos
Parents may photograph their own children but must avoid sharing images of other students online, even at classroom events or field trips, to respect privacy and FERPA guidelines.

Thank you for helping us balance celebrating student achievements with protecting everyone’s privacy.
