Fall Elementary Musical: The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition
For this audition process, we are asking for your child to prepare a 1 minute selection from a similar style musical or disney song. If your child is interested in a lead role, they are welcome to look at this list of like styles to help them prepare! These are NOT required pieces, just suggestions that best fit the characters. If you’d like to sing something from the show, that’s highly encouraged!

Fall Middle School Play: Little Women
Based on the life and novel by Louisa May Alcott's Little Women brings the beloved novel to life with a vibrant and heartfelt portrayal of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy. Set in the 1860s, the play follows the sisters as they navigate their dreams and challenges amidst the backdrop of the American Civil War.
Jo, the ambitious writer, strives to break societal norms; Meg seeks a simple life filled with genuine love; Beth faces her health struggles with courage; and Amy grapples with her artistic ambitions and social aspirations. Through a mix of drama and humor, the play highlights their personal growth and the strength of their family bond.
Featuring period-appropriate details and engaging dialogue, this adaptation captures the essence of Alcott’s story while resonating with modern audiences. It’s a timeless celebration of resilience, love, and the journey to self-discovery.

Audition Information:
For this audition process, we are asking to prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of a similar style play or movie. Attached are a few possible monologues to choose from. These are NOT required pieces, just suggestions that best fit the characters. If you’d like to perform a monologue from the show, that’s great too!

Character Breakdown:
Jo March
The protagonist of the story, Jo is a fiercely independent and imaginative young woman with a passion for writing. She defies societal expectations and struggles to balance her literary ambitions with her family responsibilities. Her bold spirit and strong sense of justice drive much of the play’s action.
Meg March
The eldest sister, Meg is responsible and nurturing, embodying traditional values and aspirations for a simple, loving life. As the eldest, she often takes on a motherly role within the family. Her journey involves reconciling her dreams with her practical realities.
Amy March
The youngest sister, Amy is artistic, ambitious, and concerned with social status. Her character arc explores her development from a somewhat vain girl into a more mature and self-aware young woman. She balances her artistic dreams with her desire for refinement.
Beth March
The gentle and shy sister, Beth is the heart of the March family, known for her selflessness and kindness. She faces significant health challenges with bravery and a quiet grace. Her character is central to the play’s emotional depth.
Marmee (Mrs. March)
The mother, Marmee, is the wise and compassionate matriarch of the March family. She provides moral guidance and emotional support to her daughters, embodying strength, warmth, and resilience.
Father (Mr. March)
The father, Mr. March is a principled and caring father who has gone off to serve as a chaplain in the Civil War, influencing the family’s values and decisions. His presence is felt through his letters throughout and the joy when he returns home.
Laurie (Theodore Laurence)
Jo’s close friend and love interest and neighbor to the March’s, Laurie is charming, wealthy, and playful. He forms a close bond with Jo and her family, adding a romantic element to the story. His character evolves as he grapples with his own desires and relationships.
Aunt March
The wealthy and opinionated relative, Aunt March is a wealthy and strong-willed woman who offers a counterpoint to Marmee’s nurturing demeanor. She provides comic relief as well as challenges for the March sisters, particularly Amy.
John Brooke
John Brooke is the tutor and friend of Laurie and eventual husband of Meg March. A hardworking and earnest man, he comes from a modest background but is deeply committed to Meg and their future together. His character exemplifies integrity and dedication, playing a key role in supporting Meg and contributing to the March family’s growth.
Mr. Laurence
Laurie’s stern grandfather, Mr. Laurence is the wealthy older neighbor who takes an interest in the March family, particularly Jo and Beth. Initially, he is perceived as gruff and aloof, especially in contrast to his warm-hearted grandson, Laurie.
Hannah
Hannah is the loyal and kind-hearted housekeeper for the March family. She is a maternal figure who provides both practical support and emotional comfort to the March sisters. With her nurturing nature and steadfast dedication, Hannah is a beloved member of the household, contributing to the family's warmth and cohesion.
Professor Fredrick Bhaer
Jo’s mentor and love interest, Fredrick Bhaer is a kind-hearted and intellectual man who becomes a mentor to Jo and encourages her to pursue more serious writing. His relationship with her develops into a deeper romantic connection, supporting her personal and professional growth.
